A stylish, ceramic vase in the shape of a cylinder. It is absed on the artwork 'Composition with large red plane, yellow, black, gray and blue'(1921 by Piet Mondrian (1872 - 1944).
This composition is one of the most important pieces of art along the lines of what Mondrian called 'Neo-Plasticism'.
In 1920, Mondrian published 'Le Néo-plasticisme', a booklet in which he tried to theoretically support his ideas. He used the book to continue his ideas on 'Neo-Plasticism' that he expressed in his earlier publications in magazine 'De Stijl'.
The 'Composition with large red plane' shows quite a lot of coloured planes. In the course of a few years, they started to disappear in his search of the right rhythm and the perfect balance.
