An impressive tapestry that carries a great deal of symbolic meaning. The main shapes are woven in gold thread (lurex) and they are set off against the background's warm colours.
"The Gold Tree of Life" by Gustav Klimt 91862-1918) is inspired on Egyptian motifs which used to depict 'expectations' and 'fulfilment' and served as an eye catcher'. The abstract framework is a geometric representation of the tree.
The original of this wonderful mosaic was used as a decoration of the dining room of the Stoclet palace in Brussel (1905-1911)
